How pathetic.
We have the convention of “free speech”, and yet people want to silence Aboriginal and Indigenous people who are angry and upset? I guess it just goes to show how far we still have to go to reach equality in Australia. I for one, am somewhat disappointed in the reaction the protests has caused on people. While I don’t agree nor condone the act of burning the Australian flag; if that’s what it takes to bring attention to this issue, then so be it.
But what would happen if we set fire to an Aboriginal flag? We’re meant to accept that its fine for them to do it in protest, however if the tables were turned we’d never hear the end of it.
